best case scenario-peeping tom/worse case scenario-stalker: last night a guy climbed up to the second-floor of my house to look into my window. when i saw him, i screamed exactly one unintelligible swear word and then slammed the open window in his face before running to my land-lady's room. the police say everything is okay, that he was probably a "celebrista", a guy who apparently roams the streets at night between 3 and 5 in the morning looking for open windows to peek into, in the hopes of catching glimpses of naked girls. this is apparently normal in Cuba, and should not be worried about. my landlady says that, at least he wasn't a thief. personally, i would have preferred a thief than a creepy perv. i feel violated. and i don't think i will be opening any of my windows in the near-future. i cannot forget his eyes.
